Learning Through Football

City in the Community have teamed up with the Premier League to create this new project.

Learning Through Football

The ‘Learning Through Football’ programme was introduced to City in the Community in 2012 with the support of the Premier League and is designed as a new project for young people on years 5 and 6 of Primary School.

The eight hour programme is delivered in partnership with The University of Manchester and enables volunteer students from the University to support City in the Community with the delivery of the activities and gives both University students and participants a unique learning experience.

The course aims to improve key skills that are part of the National Curriculum with particular focus on:-

  • Literacy
  • Numeracy
  • Science
  • Geography
  • ICT
  • Modern Foreign Language (Spanish)
  • Enterprise
  • Physical Activity

Using sessions and content designed around Manchester City Football Club, participants develop skills in leadership, decision making, team work, innovation, problem solving and creativity.

Lessons are delivered in school although alternatives groups can experience their lessons at the Etihad Stadium
