“Rony”, as he is affectionately known, joined City from Benfica in 2011 and became the Club's youngest-ever scorer on in the FA Cup third round win over Watford in January 2013.

Lopes was called up for the first team on their pre-season tour of Austria and the Far East, impressing the coaching staff with his direct dribbling and willingness to fire shots at goal.

He was a regular for City EDS in 2012/13 and went on to claim the inaugural Academy Player of the Year award for the season, winning a public vote.

The Portuguese forward represented his country at the Euro u19 Championships in Lithuania in July 2013 and scored a beautiful goal against the hosts in a 4-2 win.
