One of the finest left-backs in the game, Gael Clichy became the youngest player to win a Premier League medal at the age of 18 in 2004 and has since added to that collection with City.

A member of Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ and FA-Cup winning side, the Frenchman had enjoyed success before he arrived at the Etihad Stadium, seeking a new challenge.

Since joining in 2011, the defender has won the domestic title a further two times, along with a League Cup and Community Shield medal.

Intelligent and quick, with the ability to race up and down the flank, Clichy is a consistent performer. Although he does not always receive plaudits for his displays, the Blue faithful are well aware of his capabilities.

The 29-year-old has impressive stamina, considering he is lucky to be alive – never mind playing football.

At the age of 15, his heart stopped after a seven-hour operation so it is somewhat of a miracle Clichy has gone on to enjoy a career in sport – and such a successful one.

His decision to leave Arsenal was questioned at the time but any doubts as to whether he felt he had made the right decision were eliminated on the final day of the 2011/12 season – his emotional celebrations to the title win were evident for all to see.

Part of the double-winning side of 2014, Clichy cemented his place as a first-team regular and in competition with Aleksandar Kolarov, ensures Manuel Pellegrini a frequent selection headache.
