Few will forget Yaya Toure’s second half goal against Manchester United which booked City’s place in the FA Cup final for the first time in 30 years.

The Ivorian’s 52nd minute strike would ultimately pave the way for the Blues to go on and finally end their 35 year trophy drought.

In the days leading up to the Wembley encounter, Roberto Mancini’s side had endured a 3-0 defeat at Liverpool and were without the injured Carlos Tevez.

As the game got underway, it was looking like these factors might be enough to affect City’s chances with Manchester United dominating the opening stages.

However, the Blues gradually gathered momentum and seven minutes into the second half Yaya Toure seized his opportunity.

Capitalising on a Michael Carrick mistake, the Ivory Coast international used his pace and power to evade Nemanja Vidic and slot home sending the travelling City fans into a frenzy!

As it would turn out, the party was just beginning with the Blues going on to beat Stoke 1-0 in an unforgettable final.

Speaking to after the match,Yaya said: “I am very happy. We have beaten our big rivals, which is fantastic and we are going to enjoy it.”

“I am really happy for the fans. They have been waiting 35 years for a trophy. It is a long time.

“I think this is going to be the year for Manchester City.”

His brother Kolo Toure also told Citytv that the goal stands out as one of his favourite FA Cup moments.

“It was such a special moment for me even though I wasn’t playing,” he smiled.

“It is definitely one of my favourite FA Cup memories.”
