BT Sport: Micah eyes long-term City stay

There looks like an end in sight to the endless rumours on the future of a City Academy graduate in today’s papers.

If you believed the speculation on Richards’ future, you’d probably be expecting him to head off to any one of Roma, Inter, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs…

However, in one fell swoop, the Birmingham-born defender has decided to kill all of the conjecture stone dead by giving an exclusive interview to BT Sport.

"I did say at the start of the season I wanted to see the manager's plans and I'm in his plans, as he's said all along, so we'll see what the future holds, but I'm happy at Manchester City," Richards told BT Sport.

"I've been here since I was 14, it's a club I love. Before I got my injuries, I was number one choice. It's only because I got injuries and Pablo Zabaleta has done so well, I find myself not playing as regular.

"I'm fully fit now and I'm ready to show everyone what I can do."

But is he fully fit?

Staff at the club were left sweating on that score at a television shoot yesterday when Micah appeared to slip.

In a performance worthy of consideration when Oscar season comes around, the 25-year old staggered back to the green room clutching his hamstring, leaving said staff to believe he’d injured himself on the shoot.

Watch as Micah does his best Keyser Soze…

Elsewhere, you can almost set your watch to rumours surrounding Sergio Aguero’s future – especially when it’s a switch to La Liga that’s supposedly in the offing.

Spanish TV show Punto Pelota claimed an exclusive on Kun heading to Barcelona next summer in a €50-55m deal, despite the striker signing a new contract at the Etihad Stadium a couple of months ago.

Other news emanating from Spain suggests that Iker Casillas has issued a “come and get me” plea to clubs around Europe after his lengthy spell on the Real Madrid bench.

In reality, this plea was given to a school child who asked the 32-year old if he could one day leave Real Madrid, to which the goalkeeper gave the shock revelation that he may one day think about leaving if he continues not to miss out on playing.

The Sun throws City into the pot labelled “on red alert”, based on.... well, it doesn’t say.

Stick the above stories in with the plain bizarre headlines surrounding an England manager’s half-time team talk and you could be fooled in to thinking that there’s no real news out there this week...

However, you will of course be told if there are any confirmed transfer deals first here on mcfc.co.uk.

Finally, back in the real world… evergreen West Ham goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen has called on his teammates to pull off a shock win against City on Saturday evening to kickstart their season.

"If City turn up and play their best it is going to be extremely difficult for us to do anything, but we will see,” the 38-year old told the official West Ham website.

“Last season our home form was fantastic, but this season we have had two defeats already so we want to make sure that if we can't win the game, we don't lose it, that is our main aim.

“I wouldn't take a draw now, but if things don't go our way and City plays a good game, it is going to be hard to beat them, but we have to make sure that we are hard to beat as well."

We'll be hearing from Manuel Pellegrini ahead of that game this afternoon and will have all of the juiciest cuts from his press conference here on mcfc.co.uk.
