Exciting Swedish striker John Guidetti excelled in City’s Academy and graduated with a League Cup debut in September 2010 before heading on loan to the Netherlands.
Guidetti was born in Stockholm and began his career playing for Swedish youth outfit Brommapojkarna before moving to City in April 2008.
The 15-year-old made excellent progress through the ranks. He became a prolific scorer for the Under 18s, including a hat-trick against an experienced Burnley reserve side.
Guidetti went out on loan to former club Brommapojkarna in 2010.
He scored three goals and made four others in just seven appearances there
On his return he was selected by Roberto Mancini for the squad that headed Stateside for the pre-season tour in July 2010. He made his debut off the bench against Sporting Lisbon.
Just two months later Guidetti featured in the starting line-up for the Carling Cup tie against West Brom at The Hawthorns. He made City's goal for Jo but Mancini’s men were beaten 2-1.
In late November 2010 he joined Championship side Burnley on loan, scoring on his debut in a 2-1 victory at Barnsley before returning in January as part of Mancini’s 25-man Europa League squad.
He signed a new three-year contract with City in July and once again joined the Club’s summer tour to the United States and Canada, scoring in the 2-1 win at Vancouver Whitecaps.
Just a month later he began a season-long loan at Dutch side Feyenoord, scoring a penalty on his debut against NAC Breda. Guidetti has played for both Sweden’s Under-19 and Under-21 sides.
