Midfielder Jonathan D’Laryea made one first-team appearance after graduating from City’s Academy, but has since enjoyed a long career in football at a variety of lower league clubs.

Born in Manchester but of Ghanaian descent, D’Laryea joined the Blues’ youth programme at the age of nine alongside his twin brother Nathan and progressed through the ranks.

He was selected by Kevin Keegan to make his senior debut at the age of 19 against Arsenal in the Carling Cup, a game that City lost 2-1, but he never featured for the Blues in a League match.

After struggling to establish himself in the first team, the midfielder headed to Mansfield Town on an initial one-month loan that was extended by a further two months before D’Laryea joined the Stags permanently in January 2006.

He became a crowd favourite at Field Mill and overcame an ankle injury in the summer of 2007 to return and become a regular performer in the first team for Mansfield.

During his time playing for the Stags he made 149 appearances and scored three goals, before going out on loan to non-league Northwich Victoria in the pursuit of first-team football.

During his initial period at Northwich he made 12 appearances and subsequently signed a permanent deal for the Vics in November 2009. D’Laryea played 20 times for Northwich but in February 2010 decided to sign for Nottinghamshire outfit Eastwood Town in the Conference North.

The holding midfielder scored twice in 22 appearances during his spell at the Badgers then moved east to Lincolnshire to join Conference North rivals Gainsborough Trinity in June 2011.
