As Manchester City Football Club grows, it continues to cultivate local, national and international talent. In order that we can give the best conditions to our young players they need to be in quick and easy reach of our training facilities.

In order that we can give the best conditions to our young players they need to be in quick and easy reach of our training facilities.

Can you help with accommodation for our young players?

Next season we will have more young players joining our development programmes. Generally these players are aged between 14 and 18 and will require high quality accommodation on either a temporary, part-time or full-time basis. The requirement ranges from hosting trialists for several days at a time, to longer term placements for up to 34 weeks per year for several nights each week, or to permanent accommodation for players from further afield living full-time in Manchester.

Ideally we require accommodation for between one and three players in each unit of accommodation. Players will require a single bedroom, wireless internet access, some personal space, and some of their meals and laundry to be provided.

Payment and expenses

The football club makes an all-inclusive payment to host families or private foster carers which covers all the costs of the arrangement and recognises the commitment required from the family.

Distance and transport

Whilst all the players’ transportation requirements are arranged by the club, they can be quite complex; we need the accommodation to be a reasonable distance from the Stadium, the Carrington training centre or the Platt Lane Academy site.

More information

All you need to do is provide a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for our players to rest and recuperate after a day’s training or school. Our young players would also expect some of the support normally given by a parent when living at home.

All host family members over 16 will be subject to an Enhanced CRB check and the household will undergo a rigorous suitability assessment of both the accommodation and those living there.

If you think you might be interested and can help please contact Louise Mellor on 0161 438 7850 or Louise.Mellor@mcfc.co.uk for an informal chat to learn more about helping us with the provision of accommodation for our players.
