City u18s goalkeeper Angus Gunn has returned to Manchester after impressing for England u17s at the Algarve Tournament in Portugal.

The 17-year old took part in two of the three games as the sole City representative in the squad, after Kean Bryan was forced to pull out due to injury at the last minute.

England were unfortunate to go down to narrow defeats in each of their three matches in the tournament, after being edged out 1-0 by Holland, 2-1 by Germany and 2-1 by Portugal.

Gunn did has growing international reputation no harm in the tournament, producing a wonderful save from Germany’s Jonathan Tah on the half-hour mark in the opening game and another top drawer stop in the game against Holland to keep England in with a chance.

This is the second age-group Angus has represented his country at, having made his debut for England u16s in February 2011.

This friendly international competition was preparation for next month's Euro Elite Round Qualifiers against Portugal, Russia and Slovenia, with a place in the European Championships up for grabs.

Gunn will be hoping to be next in action for City u18s at home to Arsenal at Platt Lane on Saturday morning.
