City u18s v Arsenal: Match preview

City u18s host Arsenal on Saturday looking to extend their unbeaten league run to three games.

A draw with rivals Manchester United was followed by last week’s thrashing of Newcastle, in which six different scorers found the net.

Since then, a number of Jason Wilcox’s men have travelled to Russia as part of the squad to face CSKA Moscow in the u19 UEFA Youth League.

Jack Byrne, Ash Smith-Brown and Angelino all started the match, while Kean Bryan came on as a substitute, and four more u18s were on the bench as part of a strong EDS side which currently sits top of the group.

City met Arsenal twice last season and ran out victors home and away, with Joe Nuttall proving a hattrick hero in the February clash at Platt Lane.

The Gunners will be out for revenge, while the young Sky Blues will be aiming to leapfrog Wolves into third place in the North Division of the u18 Premier League.

Kick off at Platt Lane (M14 7UU) is at 1pm. We’ll bring you updates on twitter as well as a full match report shortly after full time.
