City under-18s will be looking to extend their lead at the league’s summit when they face Everton in a top of the table clash on Saturday.

The young Blues are set to take on their closest challengers for the no.1 spot, with the Toffees lying just two points behind in second, although City have two games in hand on their Everton counterparts.

City saw off the Merseyside outfit 4-1 when the teams met last November at Platt Lane – goals from Ashley Smith-Brown, Thierry Ambrose, Jorge Intima and Denzeil Boadu giving the Blues a comprehensive victory over the then leaders.

Both sides are in an excellent run of form going into this clash, having won four of their last five matches.

Last time out, Bersant Celina’s delicious strike earned Jason Wilcox’s men all three points against Blackburn, after Rovers had cancelled out Olivier Ntcham’s early goal.

Since then, nine players involved in that match last Saturday were part of Patrick Vieira’s squad that triumphed over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Youth League in Spain. Billy O’Brien, Angelino and Thierry Ambrose all started the match, with Ambrose setting up the winning goal for Devante Cole.

Meanwhile, Everton overcame Newcastle 5-2 in the North East on their last outing, and will be looking to make it five wins on the bounce when they host City.

Kick off is at 11am at Finch Farm. We’ll bring you live updates on twitter as well as a full match report after full time right here on mcfc.co.uk.
