After a couple of days travelling for different parts of the tour party we are back together now and in New York.
Well actually we are in New Jersey in the district where I am informed Frank Sinatra was born.
We have a spectacular view over the Hudson River at Manhattan which is stunning both day and night but it is really, really, hot. It got close to 100 degrees yesterday and there is plenty of humidity too.
Not had much time for singing – even though I know one or two of Sinatra’s songs – because yesterday was taken up travelling from Oregon and today I have been helping with the launch of the new away kit.
I am not allowed to say much about it but Umbro have done really well again
I think the fans will like it when they see it properly at the weekend.
I teamed up with Bridgey, Harty, Wrighty, Dedryck, Kolo and Ade for a couple of games of street football to advertise the kit and again I am not going to reveal much because there is sure to be a video of the event but we remained unbeaten in two games of street football – just!!
I had a quick turnaround after that and it was off to training ahead of tomorrow’s opening match of the Barclays New York Challenge match against Sporting Lisbon.
We might get a clue as to how we will be lining up and I will be able to say hello to Yaya Toure who has arrived in the hotel and will be joining in for the first time with us today.
Gareth Barry is also here now adding to the competition for places and just lifting training a little more again. We know that we are only three weeks from kick off and this weekend will show us where we stand in terms of fitness.
