As I told you in the last diary we were in the gym yesterday for a session which we were all ready for after the running!

People keep asking me about weights and stuff but I can honestly tell you that I don’t do any. It is all just god given muscle!!

I was working on strengthening my knees but others were pumping the weights. I bet if I gave everyone a guess at who the beasts in the gym are they wouldn’t get the names right straight away.

Vincent Kompany and Wayne Bridge are the two who really stand out when it comes to lifting. Vinnie is so competitive in everything he does. He trains intensely and he works in the gym the same way but Bridgey gives him a run for his money; he is really wiry and strong.

After the gym it was back to the hotel for the familiar diet of fish, chicken or pasta. Like I said yesterday the food is really good and that is despite Cookie the cook coming with us from Carrington.

Sleep was on the agenda again in the afternoon before another evening session of training back at Nike HQ when we trained on team shape.

It was a long work out and by the time we got back to the hotel and dinner it was getting on for 9pm and guess what – more sleep.

I have not been out in the town yet but I will do so before we go. There is not much time between training sessions and that’s what we are here to do. In fact the nearer we get to Saturday’s game, the more everyone just wants to get out and play.

We have been training now for nine or ten days and we all want to get out there and get competitive again.

By the way I am going to be a judge in the X Factor competition. I will let you know who wins.
