Roberto Mancini and the FA Cup helped kick off the Dublin Super Cup at one of the Irish capital’s most renowned watering holes on Friday evening.
The Cafe en Seine was the venue for the launch event to celebrate the weekend’s football festival at the Aviva Stadium, which will host City, Inter Milan, Celtic and an Airtricity Irish XI. The opulent, Parisian-style surroundings leant a suitably cosmopolitan touch to the prospect of seeing some of the world’s top players over the next two days.
The City boss, along with counterparts Gian Piero Gasperini, Neil Lennon and Damien Richardson, took part in a Q & A session at the event staged by the tournament’s co-organisers, Endemol UK. Nigel de Jong and Vincent Kompany also dropped in, and the FA Cup was proudly on display to the delight of the many Irish City fans also there.
City face the Airtricity Irish XI at 2pm on Saturday, and will close out the weekend against Roberto’s old club at 4.15pm the following day.
Roberto had earlier faced the press at the Aviva Stadium immediately after flying in from Manchester, and alongside him was the man-of-the-moment, new signing Sergio Aguero. The Argentinean striker was making his first public appearance after his headline-grabbing arrival at the Etihad Stadium earlier this week.
