Bruce Arena's men have launched their quest for Major League Soccer glory in impressive fashion.
LA Galaxy made a mixed start when the season opened in March - a 1-0 victory away to Seattle Sounders preceded a draw with New England Revolution and a 4-1 defeat by Real Salt Lake.
But the Pacific Coast side eased back on track by going through April unbeaten. And May's only blemish was a 2-1 defeat at the hands of FC Dallas. Chivas, New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union all succumbed.
As it stands, coach Arena's side sit top of the Western conference, five points ahead of their nearest rivals Dallas, one of only two sides to defeat them so far.
Galaxy have a healthy mix of youth and experience, though inevitably it’s midfielder David Beckham who springs to mind at any mention of the team - he has seven assists this season.
Despite speculation about Beckham moving to Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the year, he returned to the United States following a period of training with Harry Redknapp's team.
Landon Donovan, in his sixth Galaxy campaign, is top scorer with eight goals. The 29-year-old, with successful loan spells at Everton and Bayer Leverkusen, remains one of their outstanding players.
City fans will also recognise Juan Pablo Angel from his time at Aston Villa. The 35-year-old signed for Galaxy in January following at outstanding spell at New York Red Bulls.
During his time in the Big Apple, Angel was not only the league's leading scorer but the all-time top scorer in New York history, averaging more than a goal every two games.
They are also set to compete in the CONCACAF Champions League for the second season in a row after winning the Supporters’ Shield last season.
