This Sunday’s league programme features just one National Division fixture with City Ladies travelling to Coventry.
The Citizens will be looking to extend their winning run to three games and will be buoyed by the 2-1 win over the Sky Blues back in October.
Since that meeting Coventry have changed their management as Paul Cudby stepped down. Cudby took charge in 2008 and lead the Sky Blues to two consecutive promotions. Chris Holloway is the man looking to continue Cudby’s good work and his reign has began well, leading Coventry to back-to-back victories over Derby County in the League Cup and Cardiff City in the League.
City have the opportunity to pull five points clear of their opponents and lift themselves into second in the table with a win this Sunday. Sarah Buffel hopes to be in contention following a slight knock which kept her out of the win over Barnet, otherwise manager Leigh Wood has a fully-fit squad to pick from.
Leigh Wood previews what will be a tough encounter for City Ladies:
“After last week’s win against Barnet, we go into the game looking to carry on our good run of results which has seen us win two on the bounce. We have already beaten Coventry this season but we won't be taking anything for granted as we know them to be a strong, well-organised team who have players that can hurt you. They have a new manager who all their players will be trying to impress so we know we will be in for a tough test. However we know that if we can show good quality on the ball, good concentration levels and have that little bit of luck we can get the result we are looking for.”
If you’re in the Coventry area and want to catch City Ladies in action, the match is a 2pm kick off at Bedworth United FC, Coventry Road, CV12 8NN
