Ho ho ho, join the City Santa stroll!
- 23 November 2010 08:55
Stroll up, stroll up, the Manchester City FC Santa Stroll will take place on Sunday, December 5 at the City of Manchester Stadium, raising money for the club’s Charities of the Year.
The Stroll is the centrepiece of a day of festive fun for all the family with an ice rink and real life reindeer and Santa’s sleigh to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.
The Santa Stroll, sponsored by Optimum, is a chance for all Blues to nail their colours to the mast - all participants in the 4km walk will be given a limited edition sky blue Santa suit in which to complete the stroll.
The walk will begin at 12pm on the running track of the Regional Athletics Arena, taking in the spiral walkways of the City of Manchester Stadium before finishing in City Square.
Entry costs £15 for adults and £12 for children, with every penny going to CITC Giving, the charitable giving arm of the club’s CSR policy.
Each of the five main nominated charities which the project supports – namely the Guide Dogs for the Blind, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, St. Ann’s Hospice, CITC and the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust – will be represented at the event so you can find out exactly how your donations are being used.
Along with the sky blue Santa suit, the entry fee also includes a race number, medal and a goody bag on completion. Registration forms can be completed online by going to www.mcfc.co.uk/santastroll and must be received no later than December 3.
Suits can be collected on the day or from the CityStore from December 1-5 – meaning you can wear your suits to the Salzburg and Bolton home games during that week!
Gates open for the family fun day from 10am with festive food and drink available in City Square. Along with the ice rink and reindeer sleigh, CITC coaches will be on hand to provide fun football activities and face painters and entertainers will help to get little ones in the mood for the big day.
All participants will be entitled to a 20 per cent discount in the CityStore on presentation of their race number and every ‘stroller’ that makes a purchase will be entered into a draw to win a City hamper worth £1,000
Mike Summerbee and Rodney Marsh will be upstairs in the CityStore signing their brand new books. Mike Summerbee – The Autobiography and Rodney Marsh: I Was Born a Loose Cannon, both published by Optimum, will be available to purchase in store and also online at www.mcfc.co.uk
Mike will also be in City Square signing his book on Wednesday, December 1 before the Salzburg game, and Rodney will be doing the same prior to the Bolton game on Saturday, December 4.
