CITC’s award winning Kickz project received a generous donation from a very special visitor this week.

Pool champion Imran “The Maharaja” Majid spent the week in Manchester as part of his work with young people. Imran is working with youth clubs to promote pool as an activity to keep kids off the streets.

Imran donated a pool table to one of the Kickz venues, the Sporting Edge Community Centre in Openshaw, East Manchester. More than two hundred children per week will have access to the centre, from age 6 to 19.

“We have had very encouraging feedback from previous donations that the pool tables definitely attract more children to use these youth clubs," Imran said.

“In turn these children have a fun outlet to enjoy, also the youth club staff can also provide a supportive network to any needs these children may have”

Kickz is a national programme for 13 – 19 year olds, giving young people the chance to take part in a range of free sporting and musical activities. For more information on the project, click here.
