Fledgling City slickers secure silverware in their first season.
The corridors of the Etihad Stadium were filled with silverware once more this week, as Platt Lane City under-8s celebrated their cup win with a tour of the home of the champions.
The team that emerged from the club’s Soccer Saturday and Play the Game sessions marked a successful first year together by lifting the East Manchester Junior League Cup and managed to negotiate the entire season with just one defeat.
City overcame Hough End Griffins after a penalty shootout win in the final at Tameside Stadium and Manchester City Sports Development Manager Mike Haughton appeared a proud man as the excited children were treated to a behind the scenes tour of the Etihad Stadium.
After the tour, the team were presented with their hard-earned trophy and individual medals after which attention was already being turned to next season when the group graduate to the under-9s East Manchester Junior Football League.

If your children want to follow the example of these talented youngsters, our Play the Game training sessions are open to boys and girls of all abilities, aged between 5 and 14 years. They take place at the Platt Lane training ground every Tuesday and Thursday 5pm – 6pm.
Alternatively, Soccer Saturdays are available for more fledgling talents, aged between 5 and 9 years old from 9.30am – 11.30am. 10- 15-year olds are welcome 11.30am – 1.30pm. The emphasis for these sessions is firmly on fun and the children will learn new skills, both with the ball and without.
