Next year, CITC are offering young people aged between 16 -24 the opportunity to gain national accredited qualifications whilst playing FIFA’s recognised indoor game – futsal.
The course lasts for 30 weeks and is aimed at young people who are currently not in education or employment with little or no qualifications. Throughout the programme participants will be able to gain qualifications such as:
- Level 1 City & Guilds Certificate in Sport
- NVQ Level 1 in Sport & Active Leisure
- Employability Award as well as key functional skills
As part of the programme students will also be coached by top professionals from the club in futsal, the UK’s fastest growing sport, the game where the likes of Carlos Tevez, David Silva and Sergio Aguero began their careers.
"Back in September we launched our first futsal programme partnering with Manchester Futsal Club and this comes as an extension of our desire to further expand the sport whilst also supporting young men and women in education," said CITC’s Football Development Manager.
The programme is due to start in January 2013 with taster days also being organised after Christmas, where those interested will be able to find out more about the course and have the opportunity to play futsal.
