Nothing new on Lescott - boss

Mark Hughes has not yet called time on his pursuit of Everton and England defender Joleon Lescott.

But the Blues boss has stressed that there have been no new developments in the last 72 hours.

“I have discussed this at length for the past three weeks now and we are just going over old ground,” he stressed.

“We have made bids which have been rejected and Everton are very much within their rights to do that and we respect that decision. That is the top and bottom of it.

“There has not been an update since we came back from Barcelona. We played on Wednesday and Everton played last night so there has been no opportunity - if there is going to be one - to progress it,” he told his open press conference ahead of the visit of Wolves.

The fact that Everton left Joleon out of their side in the Europa League is nothing to do with us.

“In the past when we feel there is nowhere else to go and a deal is not going to happen for us as a club then we walk away. I don’t think we are quite at that point but only time will tell.”
