Fun day launches new kit in style

Welcome to Manchester and never mind the weather - what's a bit of rain to a City fan at the end of another great week?

The odd shower couldn't dampen the feelgood factor at last night's special kit-launch concert when top bands Doves, Kid British and a full supporting cast kicked off our weekend in splendid style.

Doves man Jimi Goodwin said: "We supported Oasis here in 2005 and we played on the last day at Maine Road. What's happening here now, you couldn't make it up. The new kit's great - good to see Umbro back, it's cool."

Kid British singer and true Blue Adio Marchant said: "The new kit's amazing, top class - I can't wait to see us run out in it on the first day of the season at Blackburn. And there's a geat atmosphere around the place now."

There are certainly no clouds over the Club with a brilliant season in prospect for Mark Hughes' Blue Revolution, and supporters are invited to enjoy a taste of the future today at the City of Manchester Stadium.

City's opening match of the Vodacom Challenge in South Africa against Orlando Pirates is being beamed back on the big screen live from Polokwane to cheer on Gareth Barry, Roque Santa Cruz and their new team-mates.

The match kicks off at 2pm but the family fun starts as early as 10.30am so that the kids can get their faces painted and everybody can enjoy the barbecue (Supporters under 14 should be accompanied by an adult).

And today also sees the much-anticipated opening of the new-look state-of-the-art City Store. As Jimi and Adio said, the new kit is the business. You won't believe how good it looks, or how stylish the whole new range of City garments is.

Fans planning to come to the big pre-season friendly against Celtic on Saturday, August 8 can also buy their tickets at the Box Office.

Parking today will be on the East Stand car park, at gate 3, off Alan Turing Way.

Remember to allow extra time for the major roadworks on the A662 which are likely to affect traffic.
