Martin Petrov's thrilling campaign to force his way into Mark Hughes' Premier League plans proved to be a real vote winner with delighted Blues supporters.
The Bulgaria left-winger's determined performances and goals in the draws against Wigan and Fulham earned him the Etihad Airways Player of the Month Award for October.
Martin, a great fans' favourite since his arrival two years ago, polled 39 per cent of the votes to finish ahead of tough-tackling Nigel de Jong, who had 31 per cent, and Carlos Tevez.
City boss Hughes said after Petrov's Wigan equaliser: "He was excellent. He got us on level terms with a great finish. There is a defensive side as well and he is recognising it."
The competition winner is Steven Byrne of Oldham, who was drawn at random from all the fans who voted for the winner. He will present Martin champagne and take part in the website interview later this month.
Reserve Player of the Month, nominated by coach Glyn Hodges, is Donal McDermott, who enjoyed a successful loan at Chesterfield, and Academy Player of the Month, chosen by manager Andy Welsh, is Omar Elabdellaoui.
