We're Busking for City!

Following the wonderful response to our appeal for matchday buskers, we’re delighted to introduce those who will be entertaining the crowds outside the stadium before tomorrow’s huge sell-out clash with Arsenal. Why not head down to the stadium a little earlier to show your support and enjoy some quality live music in the sunshine?

After enduring a rigorous audition in front of City staff and our very own music-loving alien, Moonchester, the four acts performing tomorrow are –

Mathew Hibbert

Mathew is a South Manchester-based singer/songwriter (and big City fan) who lists Bob Dylan, The Doors and Neil Young as influences. He’s busked as far and wide as Australia and Germany and was featured on local TV singing ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ by Oasis on the streets of Frankfurt during the last World Cup.

James Pearce

James also goes by the moniker of ‘Jimmy Chaos’ and writes his own songs influenced by Morrissey, Idlewild and REM. He has been playing live for over two years in and around Manchester, and being another huge City fan, is especially honoured to be playing at CoMS tomorrow.

The Reveres

Local indie/rock outfit The Reveres will be performing an acoustic set of their own songs with the odd cover thrown in for good measure. A combination of poetic lyrics and melodic hooks give this band a unique yet classic sound that fans of T-Rex and Led Zeppelin with really enjoy!

Rhys Wain

Warrington-based Rhys is a hugely creative and experienced young multi-musician who pens his own brand of melodic pop that we’re sure you’ll enjoy. Having studied Popular Music and Recording at Salford University, Rhys not only plays but produces all his own demos, too. A must for fans of The Smiths, Bert Jansch and The Lovetones.

In conjunction with the Umbro playlist, the acts will also be performing their own versions of the songs chosen by you, the fans.

All acts will be performing from 13:45-14:45 before the game tomorrow in different places around the stadium. If you miss any of them, they’ll each be performing before other home game throughout the season. Keep an eye on mcfc.co.uk all next week for exclusive videos of all the buskers in action at the auditions.
