What a double for any Blues fan - the exclusive unveiling of City’s new 2010/11 home and away kits and the trailer premier of "Blue Moon Rising" at Umbro's building on Dale Street.

Some of City’s most famous supporters were there – Kevin Cummins, Mark E Smith, Damon Gough, The Doves, Kid British, Supporters Club chairman Alan Galley and secretary Kevin Parker.

The evening opened with the first public sighting of "Blue Moon Rising", which is an enthralling documentary of last season.

The trailer was a huge hit thanks to a fantastic storyline and the fact that any Blue can relate to the experiences of those in the film. Due to be released on August 4, it is an absolute must-see for any Blue.

Next came the official unveiling of the kits. Last season’s kits will be an extremely hard act to follow, but I believe Umbro have once again surpassed themselves.

Paul Lake agrees: “Umbro have taken our kit to the next level. The thinking that goes into the design and production is incredible; it makes you take huge pride in your club.

"The new away kit is my personal favourite; I love the deep colour and the detail that’s been incorporated into the strip.”

Catherine Rees of Umbro says the kit sees “performance meet style” as new techniques such as body panelling have been used to enhance the performance and general feel for the players. The strip is crisper, smarter and takes inspiration from classic kits.

In fact, it includes the same dimensions on the chest as the 1969/70 home strip. So for those lovers of traditional techniques and classic designs, this kit is definitely for you.

"The dark side of the moon" is how the colour of the away strip has been described by Umbro. Adio, lead singer from Manchester band Kid British, can’t get enough: “It’s so stylish, it’s perfect to wear with jeans when you go out with your mates.”

It was a fantastic night. Congratulations should go to all involved as well as David Blanch, the designer who was unable to attend.

The home kit becomes available online from August 2 and will be in-store from August 6. And the away strip goes on sale from July 23.
