It’s a special, World Cup-themed Social City this week as we asked our friends on Facebook and Twitter to tweet or post a message for the MCFC players representing their countries in South Africa.

We received enough messages for at least ten features, but here are some of our favourites:

SWP, I remember seeing you make your City debut under Joe Royle and you've been my favourite City player since. Show the world what you can do!

...Steven Tomkinson

Good luck lads. I’m sure you will do you countries very proud! All the best from the blue moon faithful in Blackpool!

...Mikeo Young

Although I'm Argentinean, good luck to all the boys in Blue from Tevez to all the boys in the English squad. I hope everyone comes out healthy and ready for the big season coming up.

...Pablo Pascuali

Good luck to all the City boys on show and good luck to England in particular. It’s about time we had the best of Manchester in the limelight.

...Paul Bedfore

Good luck to all the City boys! Just a personal message to Jerome Boateng... take it easy against Australia!

...Christian Leyland

Good luck to all of our players in South Africa. Come home safe and sound but most of all injury free!

...Sue Sharkey

In keeping with the World Cup excitement, we’ve found two brilliant ways of keeping up with everything that’s happening over in South Africa. Firstly check out this amazing interactive wall chart that tells you exactly who’s playing who, when and where!

Twitter have also launched this brilliant site that picks up all mentions of each of the 32 international teams involved and puts them in a live tweet feed.

And if you don’t want to miss a kick of the games the City players are involved in, join this Facebook event and we’ll keep you right up to date!

A big thanks also goes out to Mintball on Flickr who provided us with the beautiful summery photograph of CoMS featured at the top of this page.
