City’s Europa League campaign will begin to be mapped out on August 6, the draw date for the Play Off round that marks the club’s entry into the competition.

The two-legged tie which will decide whether or not Roberto Mancini’s side goes forward to the group stage will take place on August 19 and August 26.

The draw date for the aforementioned groups is August 27 and there are six matchdays in that section of the competition – two in September, one each in October and November and two in December.

The final is being played on May 18, 2011 in the Aviva Stadium (formerly Lansdowne Road) Dublin.

The Play off round into which the Blues enter consists of 74 teams.

Already through to the same stage are Aston Villa and other luminaries Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, PSG, Porto, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord.

Liverpool enter in the previous round – the third qualifying round –which takes place in July. Juventus, Stuttgart, CSKA Moscow, and Red Star Belgrade are amongst the teams also kicking off their campaign early.

In all, forty-eight teams will make it into the group stage – the 37 winners from the Play off round containing City, plus 10 losers from the Champions League play-off round and the Europa League holders.

For those wanting to plan the next campaign as early as possible the Premier League fixtures for 2010-2011 are issued on Thursday, June 17 and the action itself kicks-off on the weekend commencing August 14.
