Papal honour for Brian Kidd

Brian Kidd recently met Pope Benedict XVI at the launch of a new sporting foundation for young people in Britain.
The John Paul II Foundation for Sport has been established to bring young people in this country together through sport and Brian, City's Assistant Manager, will sit on the Foundation's board.
Brian was presented to the Pope and lit an Inauguration Candle during an assembly held in Twickenham that was broadcast to 800,000 school children across the UK.
"I am thrilled to be invited to be a member of the board for the foundation," said Brian, "and I hope I can make a contribution to the work with young people in sport. I think the establishment of the foundation is a fitting tribute to the work of John Paul II, himself an accomplished sportsman and it is a timely contribution I hope in the run up to the 2012 games in London.”
