The holders of the Carling Cup, Birmingham City, will visit the Etihad Stadium after the draw for the third round of the Carling Cup was made.

Former Liverpool captain Phil Thompson drew City's number out of the hat first before Alan McInally paired the Blues with Chris Hughton's side in the draw as televised on Sky Sports on Saturday lunchtime.

The game will take place in the week commencing 19 September, and we will bring you a confirmed date in the near future.
