Uwe Rosler has invited Wembley-bound Blues fans to make a weekend of it by taking in Brentford's opening game of the season the day before the Community Shield.
Rosler's new charges face Yeovil in their League One opener on 6 August and the City cult hero turned manager is urging travelling Blues to lend their support.
He said in a letter to fans: "I’m sure all City fans are looking forward to a great occasion when you travel down for the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium, the scene of your memorable FA Cup victory.
“Hopefully many of you will also take the opportunity to watch Brentford`s opening League game of the season at Griffin Park on the previous day.
“For me it would be fantastic to have a lot of City fans here to support Brentford as well as the home fans, and I`m sure it would help create a great atmosphere in our opening League game.”
The fixture will be German favourite Rosler’s first in English management - and his won’t be the only familiar face on show.
He added: “It will be a great opportunity for City fans to support one of your former players Shaleum Logan as he makes his debut for Brentford."
Thirteen years since leaving Maine Road, Rosler hopes to create a lasting bond between City and Brentford.
He said: "Hopefully it can be the start of a new association between our two sets of fans. I really hope you take this opportunity, and I look forward to cheering City on 24 hours later!”
