Manchester City will kick-start their summer trip to North America by taking on Club America in San Francisco.

The Mexican side are lined up as the first opponents of City’s 2011 pre-season as part of the Club’s involvement in the Herbalife World Football Challenge.

The game will take place on Saturday 16 July at AT&T Park, the 42,000-seater stadium which is home to the San Francisco Giants baseball team.

The teams are no strangers, City having taken on Club America last summer. A penalty shoot-out was needed, Emmanuel Adebayor scoring the decider in the match at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

City have already announced games in the tournament against MLS sides Vancouver Whitecaps and Los Angeles Galaxy, and the San Francisco date completes a trio of exciting matches in North America.

The schedule of City’s participation in the Herbalife World Football Challenge is as follows (all kick-off times are local Western US times):

8pm, Saturday 16 July, AT&T Park, San Francisco – Club America v Manchester City

7pm, Monday 18 July, Empire Field, Vancouver – Vancouver Whitecaps v Manchester City

1pm, Sunday 24 July, Home Depot Center, LA  – Los Angeles Galaxy v Manchester City

Following the trip to North America, City will fly back to take part in the Inaugural Dublin Super Cup, where the club will take on Inter Milan and a League of Ireland XI, before returning to England to prepare for the FA Community Shield at Wembley against Manchester United on Sunday 7 August.

More information about ticketing and travel packages for City supporters will be available in due
course. For further information about the Herbalife World Football Challenge, visit the official website -
