There was only going to be one winner in the Etihad Player of the Month poll for August - Edin Dzeko.
Dzeko's incredible start the 2011/12 campaign made the Bosnian the stand-out candidate - particularly in view of his four-goal haul in the 5-1 victory at Tottenham.- and he polled almost 70% of the on-line votes registered.
The Bosnian, known as 'The Diamond' in his homeland, was already a strong favourite before the Spurs game thanks to goals in each of City's opening two victories over Swansea and Bolton following plus his Community Shield strike at Wembley at the start of the month.
It's a measure of Dzeko's achievement that Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Gareth Barry and James Milner - all of whom could have picked up the award - were beaten out of sight when in other months they would have undoubtedly picked up the gong themselves.
Silva finished second and Aguero was third in the poll - Philip Mead has won the Etihad competition to present Edin Dzeko at Carrington at some point in the next few weeks.
