The Manchester City Legends will be taking to the field to show there is still magic in the old legs and raise money for a local charity.

After recent appearances in Spain and Bristol, the Legends return to Greater Manchester for two matches.

On Sunday 9 September the City Legends will take on a Soapstars XI at Disley F.C.

The Legends’ team is expected to feature a roll-call of former Blues including Andy Dibble, Eric Nixon, Andy Morrison, Jeff Whitley, Steve Redmond, Asa Hartford, Kenny Clements, Nigel Cleghorn, Nicky Summerbee, Gary Bennett and Dave Bennett.

All money raised from the game will go to Beechwood Care Hospice, a Stockport day centre opened in 1990 to help anyone who's life has been affected by the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Admission is £3 for the 2pm kick-off.

Ken Barnes

Sunday 16 September sees two teams of Legends compete for the Ken Barnes Memorial Trophy. The match takes place at Hyde F.C. with admission prices £5 (Adults) and £3 (Concessions) for the 2pm kick-off.

City Life President Bernard Halford will start the game that is expected to include Peter Beagrie, Les Chapman and Ian Scott in addition to the players taking part in the game at Disley.

Last year’s successful Ken Barnes Trophy match saw a sizeable crowd raise £6,000 for charity.
