Memorial garden important notice

  • 10 January 2012 14:01

There is no bigger compliment bestowed on a Football Club than to be given the unconditional support of a fan.

To be invited to become part of their life is a privilege.  To be asked to become a part of their memory is an honour and means much more than trophies and titles.   We take this responsibility extremely seriously and  feel passionate about it.

The Memorial Garden in the heart of the Etihad Stadium is available to all fans to take time and remember their loved ones.  The quiet and peaceful garden is located to the right of the main stadium reception, allowing easy access to all.

To assist us in maintaining the appearance and feel of the Memorial Garden, and that we are unable to accept responsibility for damaged or stolen property left within it, we kindly ask that only temporary memorials (flowers, cards, scarf’s) are left. We are sadly unable to allow permanent memorial plates, personal objects and planting.

From 1 February 2012, any temporary memorials in the garden will remain undisturbed for seven days out of respect. We will then place them in storage for one month so you can collect them if you would like to do so.

To facilitate the return of any item, please complete a receipt form which will be attached to the memorial letter and leave it at West reception in the Colin Bell stand, next to the Memorial Garden. This will assist us in logging and tracking it and enables us to notify you when the end of the four week period is approaching. Items uncollected after four weeks will either be donated to charity or permanently removed.

We endeavour to not only enhance the privacy for our visitors, especially whilst going through an emotional time, but also reduce unnecessary stress. If you would like to visit the garden, please call 0161 438 7601 or contact reception to book an appointment.

There is no charge for the use of the Memorial Garden and on personal request the Club Reverend may also attend and hold a short private service, availability permitting.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding
