Paddy Power: City v Chelsea specials

City are favourites to pass the latest stern title test on Wednesday night.

Chelsea have enjoyed a resurgence under the management of Roberto Di Matteo, but on the back of City’s strong home form in the Premier League this season, Paddy Power, the Blues betting partner, have priced up the hosts at 19/20 favourites to win the match.

You’ve to go as far back as December 2010 for the last time City suffered a league defeat on home soil and a good recent record at home to the Stamford Bridge outfit. City have come out on top of two hard-fought games with the Londoners at the Etihad Stadium in the last couple of seasons.

Goals have normally flowed in front of our own support. In 14 home league games, we have averaged precisely three goals per game. Two or more goals have been bagged in each of the most recent home games in all competitions; a run that stretches back to the closing weeks of last year.

The talismanic John Terry has been confirmed as a notable absentee for the visitors and for those reasons, Paddy Power believe it could be worth looking at a correct score bet along the lines of City to win 2-0 at 17/2 or Manchester City to win 2-1 at 7/1.

With four goals in his last four starts, Sergio Aguero has been finding the back of the net with regularity in recent weeks and there is obvious appeal in backing him to be first goal scorer at 9/2. Backing him to score at ‘anytime’ in the match at 5/4 is another option.

Last season in this fixture, Carlos Tevez proved to be the difference between the two teams with a cracking goal that proved to be the game winner.

Roberto Mancini has suggested the former skipper could return to the squad. Tevez is a 9/2 chance to be the last goal scorer in the match, and stakes will be refunded if Tevez does not make an appearance.

Paddy Power are also offering money-back on all losing 1st/last goal scorer, correct score & scorecast singles if any of the Spanish trio of David Silva, Juan Mata or Fernando Torres manage to score last goal in this game.
