City had the backing of some dangerous predators for Thursday night's dramatic Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon.

The Sale Sharks rugby squad came along to the Etihad Stadium to lend the Blues their considerable support on a night when City fell agonizingly short of an amazing comeback.

Sharks skipper Sam Tuitupou said his team mates loved the occasion, and it seems that City have several new fans.

"It was a fantastic match with an incredible finish," Sam says, "and by the end we were all honorary City fans! We were gutted for City that they fell just short, but we'll be right behind them for the rest of the season. We had a very warm welcome from everyone we met and the City fans sat near us, and if any Blues players or fans want to come along to watch us at Edgeley Park we would love to see them."

Like City, many of the Sharks' squad are active on social media so follow them at @SaleSharksRugby on Twitter or www.facebook.com/salesharks.

If you want to get up close and personal with the Sharks, they play Saracens at Edgeley Park on Friday, 23 March. Kick off is at 7.45pm, with adult tickets starting at £10.
