It is not often in recent seasons that the Blues have travelled to Fulham trailing their opponents in the Premier League table.
Going in to this weekend’s visit to Craven Cottage, the home side sit atop of the champions on goal difference.
Martin Jol’s team have had a positive start to the season, particularly on their own soil, where they’ve won two from two, scoring eight goals without conceding. They come in to this match having won their last two games but they did lose three-in-a-row beforehand.
Despite Fulham’s perfect home league record, City are unbeaten in their last six visits to Craven Cottage and are 5/6 with our betting partner Paddy Power to extend that run with a win.
If Roberto Mancini decides to start with two up front then the stats say he should probably plump for his Argentine strike-pair, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez.
The latter has scored three goals in his last three starts against the Londoners whilst Aguero scored three goals across the two league games with Fulham last season.
Aguero is the favourite at 9/2 to score first and 6/5 to score anytime. Tevez is 11/2 to score first and 8/5 to score anytime.
One thing the stats all but guarantee is goals. Manchester City’s 3-0 win at the Etihad Stadium in February ended a run of 16 games across all competitions in which both teams had scored. Both teams to score in this game is priced 4/6 with Paddy Power.
Only twice in the last 15 clashes between these two has there been fewer than three goals in total making the ‘over’ 2.5 goals selection at 8/11 look a bet that will be popular.
In two of the last four games against Fulham, the Blues have won by three goals; if they can do the same here then City -2 goals at 11/2 will turn a tidy profit. City can also be backed -1 goal at 21/10
