The stats from Villa Park indicated losing was harsh on the Sky Blues who dominated possession, took the lead twice and created more and the better chances, but the score line doesn’t lie.
The visit of unbeaten Everton is the fixture in which they will bid to get things back on track. The Toffees are the Premier League’s only remaining team yet to taste defeat and their good record at the Etihad Stadium means there’ll be no complacency when Roberto Martinez’s high flyers roll into town.
City’s home form in the league has been hugely encouraging so far this season. Three games, three wins, 10 goals scored and just one conceded. And of course that resounding win in the Manchester Derby in the bag to boot. Making it four wins from four home games would get City moving in the right direction and at odds of 3/5 with online partner Paddy Power, the home team are the big favourites to take all three points.
The Toffees have been sticky opponents for the Blues in recent seasons, but it’s notable that City’s last four wins over Everton have come by score lines of either 2-0 or 2-1. Something similar doesn’t look out of the question this Saturday lunchtime with the 2-0 Correct Score bet priced up at 13/2 and the 2-1 score line also a 13/2 chance. City are 11/5 to score exactly two goals in the match.
Yaya Toure continued his run of goalscoring form against Aston Villa, taking him to four league goals for the season and putting him right up among the league’s most renowned sharpshooters. He found the net against Everton at Goodison Park at the end of the 2010/11 season and his recent form bodes well for adding to that tally. He’s 13/2 to be First Goalscorer in Saturday’s match and 2/1 to score at any time in the game.
