All the best odds ahead of City's Barclays Premier League clash with the Canaries...
Ultimately Manchester City didn’t come away from Stamford Bridge with the result they wanted, but there were lots of positives to take from the game. City had more of the ball, had more shots on target and generally can feel a little hard done by not to at least claimed a share of the spoils.
It’s crucial they returning to winning ways in the league against Norwich and it’s something they’re fancied to do. City are the overwhelming favourites at 2/9 to win the match and the 8/13 for the Half Time/Full Time option of City/City give you an idea of how hotly City are fancied..
City will desperately want a win, partially to keep them within striking distance of the top and partially due to the shock home defeat they suffered at the hands of the Canaries on the final day of last season. With the title chances over and second place secured, that game had the feeling of last day of school term and although it earned Norwich three points that made relegation feel very distant, it is something of an anomaly in terms of betting trends. The longer term history adds to the optimism, with City winning 33 of the 63 meetings of the clubs compared to the Canaries’ 10 wins.
Putting aside that somewhat distortive result, City have a good record against Norwich over the last couple of seasons. In the three games prior to last May’s meeting, they had claimed three wins over the Canaries, in the process scoring an authoritative 15 goals while conceding just five for a goal difference of +10. With two of City’s last three wins against Norwich coming via resounding 6-1 and 5-1 scorelines, taking City with a -2 goal handicap at 13/8 looks tempting.
Being the league’s top goalscorers, City have had few problems finding the net and at home the record looks even more impressive. They’ve averaged slightly over three goals a game at the Etihad stadium, conceding just twice. The signs point to a City win and the Win to Nil option at 5/6 is well worth considering. Likewise, backing City to score four or more goals at 5/2 isn’t out of the question.
One man stands out as being the outstanding choice for a First Goalscorer bet, based both on his history against Norwich and current form. Sergio Aguero has scored an impressive four goals in three starts against the Canaries and he’s already managed 10 goals from 11 appearances in all competitions for City this term. He’s 3/1 to be First Goalscorer this Saturday and 13/5 to score two or more goals in the match. Given City’s recent prolific scoring against Norwich, 17/2 for the Argentine superstar to bag at hat-trick will interest plenty of supporters too.
