Last Saturday’s home win over Cardiff stretched Manchester City’s domestic home record to 14 wins from 14 this season.
Tuesday’s Capital One Cup semi-final second-leg win over West Ham made it five straight wins and 18 games without defeat in all competitions. Watford will arrive at the Etihad Stadium knowing they face a team in top form, especially at home.
The 1/10 on Manchester City is justified against a Watford team which are sitting 15th in the Championship and have just two wins from their last 16 games, but it’s not very profitable.
In 16 home wins in all competitions this season, City have won by at least three goals ten times and winning by five or more goals five times. Manchester City -2 goals is 5/6. -3 goals is 9/5 and -4 goals is 7/2.
It should be noted that Watford are unbeaten in their last eight games on the road, drawing their last seven. Giuseppe Sannino will know the importance of not conceding early so we may see a conservative approach from the Italian.
With Sergio Aguero back playing and scoring Manuel Pellegrini has three prolific frontmen to choose from for this game, with the talented Stevan Jovetic also fit and pushing for first team action.
Aguero at 11/5 to score first in the favourite and has already seen a significant amount of backing on the Paddy Power books. Alvaro Negredo is next at 5/2 to score first with Edin Dzeko on 13/5. Whoever Pellegrini chooses to start will be an excellent bet to get on the score-sheet.
These two sides met in the third round of the FA Cup last season with Manchester City recording a 3-0 win at the Etihad Stadium. A repeat of that result pays out at 6/1 however considering Manchester City’s high-scoring exploits at the Etihad Stadium this season there will be a considerable amount of money on home wins of 5-0 at 11/1, 6-0 at 20/1 and even 7-0 at 40/1.
