Paddy Power: Derby day specials

High stakes games between Manchester’s two giants have become the norm over the last few seasons and the latest clash continues that trend.
On this occasion however, those stakes are high, but somewhat different.
We’ve become accustomed to this being a key fixture in deciding the ultimate destination of the league title and while that’s still the case for City, United will be hoping a derby win can kick-start a late drive for the Champions League places.
City make the short trip across town on this occasion, but in the eyes of the bookies, that shouldn’t hurt their chances of taking all three points. Paddy Power, official bookmaker to Manchester City, make Tuesday night’s visitors the 23/20 favourites to win with the draw a 12/5 shot.
Even prior to United’s struggles this season, the upper hand in the Manchester derby had nudged the way of the sky blue side of the City.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men have won five of their last seven competitive meetings with the Reds, losing narrowly on the other two occasions in that run.
Even the prospect of playing in front of a partisan Old Trafford crowd should hold little fear for City as they’ve recorded wins on their two most recent visits, more recently, the 2-1 win of last season, but more memorably, the 6-1 demolition during City’s title winning season.
Being a derby, it’s always likely to be close. Despite the contrasting fortunes of both sides may not necessarily translate into a lop-sided victory. To illustrate the point, an incredible 14 of the last 19 Manchester Derbies (74%) have been decided by one goal margins. It’s 11/4 that City win by exactly one goal this time around.
Yaya Toure, with 20 goals to his name already this season, has three derby goals to his name and he’s an interesting 2/1 shot to score a goal at anytime in the match and can get him at 7/1 to score first
