With eight guests from the world of football, TV and comedy, this week’s City Square is not one to be missed.
The stage is set to be a hive of activity so make sure you arrive at the Etihad Stadium in plenty of time to enjoy the pre-match entertainment.
Before the men’s team take to the pitch, MCWFC stars will take centre stage at City Square where we’ll be joined by Demi Stokes and Lucy Bronze.
Nick Cushing’s squad returned to training this week, but we’ll be hearing how the pair spent what proved to be a busy off-season.
After an impressive loan spell last year, Demi has recently signed a permanent deal at the Club, while Lucy was part of the Lionesses squad that finished third at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and was recognised with a Sports Personality of the Year nomination.
With two friendlies lined up against Swedish opposition, Demi and Lucy will discuss their pre-season preparations and the upcoming Women’s Super League (WSL) season.
Their involvement doesn’t end there as fans will have the opportunity to test their skills against our women’s players in the KickPoint dribble and shooting challenge, for the chance to win great prizes.
Demi and Lucy will also captain the teams in City’s version of the popular TV gameshow, A Question of Sport. With two teams made up of Blues supporters, the winners will be able to upgrade their tickets for the game.
After all that excitement, the MCWFC players will get a well-earned rest as members of our EDS join us on stage.
We’ll be chatting to winger Aaron Nemane and one of his teammates who’ll give us a players’ perspective on their season so far.
With important FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League games on the horizon the boys will also be discussing what we can expect from the rest of the season.
Manchester born actor Michael McNulty is best known for playing Seth in Channel 4’s science fiction comedy-drama Misfits and he’ll be chatting to the presenting team about his upcoming projects.
Of course, we’ll also be discussing his passion for football and all things Manchester City so he’ll be telling us his hopes for the rest of the season and predicting what we can expect from the game against the Eagles.
Comedian and Crystal Palace fan Sean Hughes will be on hand to give us the oppositions’ view on the game, but we’ll forgive him for that as we’re expecting a barrel of laughs from the award-winning comic.
Sean will begin touring his ‘Mumbo Jumbo’ show in February so we’ll be getting the latest news on that as well as his plans for the rest of 2016.
From TV to comedy to music. As always we will be informing your listening with some of the best up and coming bands and this week we’re delighted to host two Manchester groups.
Unique three-piece, The Prose, have been selling out venues with their effortless blend of British rock and hip hop. Their distinctive style has been turning heads in the music scene and big things are expected of them in 2016.
Naming Queens Of The Stone Age, Mars Volta, Jeff Buckley and Zeppelin amongst their eclectic list of influences, the experimental Chris Wise and the Hidden Revolution will also be performing with their distinct sometimes rocky, sometimes indie style.
And if that wasn’t enough we will of course have all your usual favourites, including EA tournaments and prize give-aways.
It’s a jam packed City Square this week so don’t miss out on the all fun.
See you tomorrow!
