Etihad Stadium to host festive markets at the centre of City Square on match days in the build up to Christmas 2012.

As nights draw in and the busy festive football calendar looms on the horizon, there’s certain to be something special in the air around the Etihad Stadium heading into December.

City Square Markets are back – bigger, better and in an all-weather marquee in front of the stage

Whether it’s a special Christmas gift for a loved one or a hankering after something more exotic than a pie or a burger as your pre-match meal, you’ll be able to find it at City Square Markets at the Etihad.

Already signed up to the street food market are  Harvey Nichols Gastronomique van, The Hungry Gecko, an Asian street food stall owned by a finalist in BBC’s Masterchef 2011,  Streatza (traditional wood-fired pizza), El Kantina (Mexican inspired street food) as well as the traditional German Sausages, Spanish Churros and French Crepes.

You’ll also have the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping, with City merchandise, memorabilia and photography available, as well as Chocolate Toddies and mulled wine

In addition there be a fully operational bar and DJ in the marquee, making it the only place to warm up for the big match in the festive period.

There are four chances to visit this mecca of street food and festive stalls on match days before Christmas.

The marquee will be open three hours prior to kick-off and for one hour after full-time at the following games.

•             Nov 21st v Real Madrid. Open: 5pm - 7.30pm and 9.30 - 10.30pm

•             Dec 1st v Everton. Open: Midday - 3pm and 5 - 6pm

•             Dec 9th v Manchester United. Open: 10.30 - 1.30pm and 3.30 - 4.30pm

•             Dec 22nd v Reading. Open. Midday - 3pm and 5 - 6pm

With all of this on top of the usual exciting programme of pre-match previews, analysis and interviews on stage at City Square, there’s never been a better excuse to arrive at the match early.
