City v West Ham: Paddy Power specials

A trip to the East End of London is City’s Barclays Premier League assignment this weekend as Roberto Mancini’s team look to continue their fine start to the defence of their title.

Fifteen games and six months have passed since the Blues last suffered a league defeat and Paddy Power, official bookmaker to City, have made them the strong favourites to make it a sweet 16.

The visitors are the 4/6 favourites to claim all three points.

Upton Park has been a relatively happy hunting ground for City in recent seasons. Just one of the last six visits has ended in defeat.

The last time Roberto Mancini’s side made the trip to Upton Park they delivered a convincing 3-1 victory.

Odds of 11/1 are available for a repeat 3-1 score line, but there’s bound to be plenty of interest too in the 13/2 on offer for City to win by a slightly tighter 2-1 score.

The Hammers have been a touch goal shy in this fixture. In the 12 games since the 2006/07 season, they’ve managed just six goals in all competitions against City.

That spell features an incredible sequence when the Blues conceded just once in seven games against the Irons, notching up five clean sheets in a row.

Paddy Power offer City to win without conceding (To Win To Nil) at 21/10.

There are real positives for the visitors at the other end of the pitch, too. The last eight goals they’ve bagged in all competitions have been shared out amongst seven goal scorers.

There’s no reliance on any one player but makes picking a First Goal scorer bet more difficult!

After grabbing the winning goal against Swansea, former Upton Park hero, Carlos Tevez has obvious appeal at 7/2. He bagged a brace when facing his former employers at the Etihad Stadium in September 2009.

Curiously, none of City’s strikers were amongst the five goals that were scored against West Ham in the 2010/11 season, the last time the Hammers were in the top flight.

It’s probably nothing more than a freakish run of luck, but it could be worth keeping an eye on midfielders Samir Nasri (11/4) or Scott Sinclair (16/5) to score a goal at any time in the match.
