City youngsters are about to get a taste of European football - and it could become a regular feature on their menu in the near future.

A team comprising a mixture of Under-18s and Elite Development Squad players are travelling to Holland for a friendly against Ajax at their world-famous academy in Amsterdam on Thursday afternoon.

Coach Scott Sellars takes the young Blues for their Dutch treat with Andy Welsh joining them after tomorrow's derby, with a VIP view of the Ajax senior team's Dutch Cup tie on Thursday night also on the agenda.

The prestige friendly could be a sign of things to come for City - a so-called New Generation League, also thought to be interesting Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham, is being mooted for 16 European clubs' youngsters.
