City EDS return to the scene of their 6-0 win over Blackburn last week for Tuesday night’s Barclays u21 Premier League Cup semi-final.

Leigh Sports Village is the venue for the showdown with Burnley which will determine who will meet Reading in the final of the inaugural competition.

Patrick Vieira’s men arrive at the last four stage in excellent form, having scored 12 goals in their last two games after their thrilling 6-2 victory over Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium on Friday night.

That result propelled the Blues into third place in the league, just one point behind joint-leaders Fulham and Liverpool, though they have two games in hand on the Cottagers.

City booked their place in the semi-finals of the u21 Premier League Cup after overcoming Stoke, West Brom and Newcastle.

In the last round, they produced a stirring second half comeback to overturn a 2-0 deficit at Newcastle’s training ground, to win 3-2 in normal time.

Visitors Burnley ended Exeter City’s giantkilling act in the quarter-finals of the competition, defeating the Grecians 3-2 after extra-time.

Before that, the Clarets saw off Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland to reach the semi-finals.

Reading await in the two-legged final of the cup after they beat Arsenal 3-1.

Kick-off is at 7pm at Leigh Sports Village (postcode WN7 4JY) and entry will be granted on the gate at £3 for adults and £1 for concessions  (free for seasoncard holders).
