City U19s discover their fate for the UEFA Youth League Round of 16…
Simon Davies’ side will travel to Real Madrid on the 23 February, 5pm (GMT)/ 6pm (CET) as they look to seal a place in the quarter final.
The young Blues sealed a place in the Round of 16 after topping Group B on goal difference ahead of Sevilla, losing just one of their six games. Top spot was confirmed on matchday six with a 1-1 draw against Borussia Monchengladbach at the Academy Stadium as Patrick Vieira signed off on a high before leaving for New York City FC.
Real Madrid finished second in Group A, a point behind PSG, and drew Swedish side Elfsborg in the Play-Off. A crowd of 6,668 packed into the Boras Arena to watch the Spanish side progress to the Round of 16 with a 3-1 win.
Borja Mayoral proved to be Real’s hero as his brace and assist for Aleix Febas’ goal propelled them to victory to secure a place in the last 16.
Should the young Blues progress to the quarter finals of the UEFA Youth League, they will face either Czech side Pribram or Benfica at home in the last eight.
If they are to reach the semi-final of the competition then they will lock horns with one of PSG, Middlesbrough, PSV Eindhoven or Roma for a place in the final.
