FC Red Bull Salzburg bounced back from their 3-0 defeat to City by extending their unbeaten league run to five games at the weekend, though they threw away two points by conceding an equaliser four minutes from time.
The Austrians drew 1-1 with Vienna in front of 5,500 fans at the Red Bull Arena with David Mendes da Silva opening the scoring on 26 minutes - a lead they held until the 86th minute when Aleksandar Dragovic levelled for the visitors. City fans’ cult hero Alan came on as a 78th minute substitute and managed to get himself booked during his brief time on the pitch.
Lech Poznan have now begun their winter break and won’t return to domestic action until the end of February, though they will continue to train with the remaining Europa League clash with Salzburg still to come next week.
Juventus seem to be shifting up a gear in Serie A following a 3-1 win away to Catania, a victory that leaves the Turin side six points adrift of leaders AC Milan.
Goals from Simone Pepe and a brace from Fabio Quagliarella extended The Old Lady’s unbeaten league and cup run to 15 games, though their five Europa League group draws mean their final match against City next week is for nothing other than pride.
