Nikita Parris can’t wait to get back in front of the City fans when Notts County Ladies visit the Academy Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The recently turned 22-year old made her loan move from Everton Ladies into a permanent one in pre-season and is raring to go ahead of the WSL opener, which kicks off at 7pm.

She stated: “I’m looking forward to getting back in front of our fans for the first time in the league this year.

“It’s always good to be at our own ground where it’s our own fortress so we’ll be going into the game looking for the win.

“I’ve said this before, our fans are the best in the league.

“We had a load at Everton, including the supporters club in the box upstairs, and they always come out to support us whether we’re playing at home or away.”

Notts County were the opponents in the last game of the 2015 season with Parris scoring the opening goal in a 2-1 win, and she’s hoping for similar circumstances this time around.

Nikita noted: “I’m hopeful of a similar result to the last time we played Notts County at the back end of last season.

“We always want to get a good start to the WSL season and continue winning games like we have done since the start of pre-season.”

The young forward helped start the 2016 season off in perfect fashion on Saturday when she notched City’s second of the evening in the 2-0 win against Liverpool.

Parris was quick to praise her teammates rather than take individual acclaim, stating her delight that the team had put themselves in a good position prior to Nick Cushing bringing her on.

Speaking after the aforementioned game, she said: “It’s always good to get on the scoresheet, but I’m happy that the girls had already put us in the lead before I went on.

“There was no pressure on my shoulders to score and I did what Nick asked me to do.

“The goal starts my season on a positive note and hopefully I can carry it on throughout the campaign.”
