City were today hailing super subs George King and Adam Drury after their smash and grab raid downed Wolves.
King crowned the win with only goal of the game in the 87th minute firing home at the far post after fellow replacement Drury had outpaced the Wolves defence to fire in a cross that beat everyone but his alert teammate.
Without Meppen-Walters, on England duty, and Roman through injury, the Blues were engaged in a dog-fight with Wolves that was often defensive but always compelling for the coaches.
The game was on a knife-edge with City having been under sustained pressure before Drury and King broke in tandem and pocketed the three points for the Blues.
Scott Sellars’ and Steve Eyre’s side are becoming masters of the late show having beaten Everton in similar fashion a week earlier.
The result means they have lost just once in the league this season.
There was double joy for the Blues with the under 16s mirroring their older clubmates scoring in the dying moments of their game against Wolves to also win 1-0! Cole was on target.
